it looks like the pictures i posted the other day were put on twice. most of the computers are not so great so sorry if they get cut off or doubled. and sorry for bad typing, i try to be fast. the picture with jose playing football was outside of a temple. he was waiting for me while i was in the bathroom and he said that the boy was standing alone holding his ball and staring at him as if saying "will you play with me?" when i came out i saw them playing and i joined for a few minutes. he was a bit sad when we had to go.
important note: temples have bathrooms!!! and there are lots of temples so if anyone travels to thailand just remember that!
so, we have seen some amazing temples! yesterday we walked around one for probably 45 minutes and we where the only ones there except for a few monks. we have both been extremely shocked at how few tourists we see at temples or outside of tourist areas! they are swarming like a disease in the area we are staying but when we go out for the day in bangkok... no one. though it's nice to see "real" thai people without tourists around, but very strange. we wonder what everyone is doing all day. the area we are staying is not really cheap (except for the hostel's. the people seem to be spending tons of money. most things around here are no less than at home. but when we step out of the area it's much cheaper. we can't figure it out. and all the young tourists seem to do is get dread locks and sit around all day (very "Thai" i guess).
the thai people have been extremely friendly, at least the one's that we know are not trying to cheat us. it's a long story to explain their game, another time. we have walked around food markets, flower markets and streets full of people cooking food. there is so much food on the streets i could not have imagined. we are guessing that no one has kitchens. there is so much poverty here. i imagined that there would be but not as much as we have seen. we are both amazed. everyone seems to be outside cooking something to sell.
we have seen so much in just four days and this is one crazy country. we saw (what looked like) a family of four riding on one motorbike down the road extremely fast - we saw a baby sitting between the mother and father with no clothes on. i posted a picture of a naked baby in a market playing in a bucket of fish to be sold, it didn't look so clean. all of these places we have been we really stand out because there are no other tourists but we feel very welcomed. people have been happy to let us take pictures of their children, even telling us to. one man joked with us he would sell us his son for 1000 baht (about $30).
we were really sore today from walking so jose is getting a massage right now and i just had a half hour foot massage for $3!!! tomorrow morning we are going to Ayutthaya (north of bangkok about 1 1/2 hours). we are looking forward to being someplace that is more quiet than bangkok. it can get extremely overwhelming very quickly. well, at least the street we are staying. we spoke to a woman that has stayed here in kaosan road for six weeks. we can't even imagine. we are fine for a few hours but it is not really experiencing bangkok anyway, there are just too many tourists and we agree we don't like their behavior... no one seems to be here to see bangkok. we would both go crazy staying around them for too long.
