This blog was originally created for my travels through Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Burma in 2007. A few months after the trip, during the September protests in Burma, I decided to continue with it to better educate myself and help in the spread of information about Burma, in which there has not been enough. In my lifetime I hope to see the Burmese people get out of their 60 year military dictatorship. GO BACK TO SEPT 25th 2007 IN THE BLOG ARCHIVE TO GET CAUGHT UP.

Glad to hear you got to Siagon. It sounds like there wasn't too much drama anyway. Everything go alright at the border and with your visas? No angry tuk tuk drivers? I'll have to google earth and check out the city. Have fun.
Love,
Mom
I'm getting ready to go to bed and came down to turn things off. Just thought you would like to know you are missing out on an ice storm. O'Hare cancelled most if not all of its flights tonight and it looks like the cars are covered with ice. It will be interesting to see what it looks like in the morning. I'm glad its the weekend so we can just stay home and curl up.
Dad was mentioning to me that Saigon is known as Ho Chi Min city (I'm not sure thats how it's spelled) now. The communist north calls it that so that is what it is named on Google Earth. I tried to find Saigon on the map and nothing would come up.
I'm anxious to hear what you have to say about he country. It is supposed to be beautiful.
Angelina Jolie was just on the news. She apparently just came back from Vietnam after applying to adopt another baby. She must have other people raising her children.
Can't wait to see some pictures.
Love You,
Mom
I just looked back a few blogs and saw that Matt posted saying he has a friend in Cambodia. Seems like everyone we talk to now knows someone from that part of the world or who would like to go there.
