Hello! We are back in Bangkok now. We took an overnight bus from Laos yesterday.
The bus was the best we have taken yet! Very clean and new and dinner was included. Best part is that the drivers didn't try to leave us anywhere! They were very nice, let us use real bathrooms and counted to see that everyone was on the bus. We tried to extend our visas for Laos but were unable to. We really wanted to visit a couple of other places before leaving. We have heard from other travelers that Laos is their favorite in southeast Asia. We could see why just being in Vientiane. It was so relaxed. You have to be careful like anywhere else but they just haven't been touched enough with tourism for it to have spoiled everything yet. But I'm sure that will happen eventually.
It's sooooo hot here in BKK!!! It's difficult to think straight. We are planning to leave for the south of Thailand tomorrow. We don't have plans yet, we will work on that this afternoon.
We visited the grand palace today. It was really beautiful. Back to the hasltle from the tuk tuk drivers though... Even though the palace was only a 10-15 minute walk we didn't feel like walking, it's so hot. So we asked a driver how much to the palace and then he grabbed his map saying that the palace was closed for service until 1pm, that he could drive us around for a tour (yeah right). We gave him a look and he asked how long have we been in Bangkok. Jose said long enough not to be ripped off and we walked away. Again we asked two more drivers how much and the same thing, the palace is closed for a special service, no tourists can visit... bla bla bla. We just didn't want to walk! All we wanted was a price to take us there and no one would give us one. So, we walked and just about melted. But the palace was worth it.
After the palace we made our way to a place (with AC) that we went to last time in Bangkok for a snack. Steamed bread with coconut custard, toast with chocolate sauce and an iced chocolate drink.
Good to hear from you Jeff. Thanks! I was wondering if anyone could post a comment now after I fixed my blog.
The pictures above are from the grand palace.

We're going on an "adventure" today as well. We're going to the City Center Hilton in Milwaukee so the girls can play in their huge indoor pool w/ water slide, etc. Lauren's Family (Ellie's best friend) is going to.
I hope we don't have to worry about being scammed by the bus boys!
Hi
We are in Buergers condo so I can check your blog. The pictures are great. Audrey went on the magic carpet with Caitlyn yesterday and today. That is the special "lift" on the bunny hill. She is doing great and Caitlyn is an old pro.
This is our last night here. We have to leave tomorrow. We will be back in Louisville tomorrow and home proably Tuesday.
At least you guys know Thailand a little so you can figure out what you will do til your flight.
Will check again tomorrow at Mike and Andrea's.
